Progress

16th December 2009: we did the first half of our filming at Rachaels house and we got some good shots to use. We particularly like the shots of our actress (Grace) tied up and the camera tracking around her as it creates tension and looks good. The filming we did on the roof also works well and looks very effective.
4th-22nd January 2010: we uploaded our footage and cut it down to what we needed and started to form a rough copy with what we had. We found the shots we had of Grace running couldn't be seen very well as it was dark so on our next filming schedule we needed more running shots. We also created the countdown clock on our teaser trailer using Photoshop. We found a font which looked like a digital clock on DaFont.com called digital-7 and created all the parts of the countdown we needed by using a black background and red font. This symbolises a bomb and increases tension as time is running out. Red also has the connotations of danger and passion which is why it is emphasised throughout our trailer as our spies job is very dangerous but she is also quite sassy, which is why we decided to have her wearing red lipstick as well. We also created our title and release date for our teaser trailer by using the same technique in Photoshop. As our actress was not available to film, we then decided to start our ancillary tasks. We used the picture we had chosen for our poster and using Photoshop we desaturated the photo and put a layer on it so we could just have her lips in colour to stand out and exaggerate them. Using InDesign we then placed our image into the poster. We then added our title to the bottom third which is where film titles are usually placed on posters. We decided to use the same digital font we have used in our trailer for our tagline and release date so we have a consistent theme and feel throughout our campaign. We decided on the tagline 'time is ticking' because this is the feeling you get from watching our teaser trailer, that time is running out so it gives a consistent brand image. We also made a start on our film magazine by finding a total film logo we could use, however we found most of them were pixelated so we used the lasso tool to draw around the logo in Photoshop and it turned out quite well. We also found two more fonts on DaFont to use on our magazine which are similar to the ones 'Total Film' use on their front cover, quite simplistic and in capitals. They are called Old Sans Black and Walkway.
22th January 2010: We did some more filming at Rachael's house with Grace and we used another actress (Jane) to play a villain who has a fight with the protagonist. We conducted our filming using a car and re-filmed our running scenes as well. We also used green screen to film the fight scene, a shot of Grace looking out over the town and an actor (Andrew) to be typing a computer. The fighting looks very realistic and works well in our teaser trailer.
25th-26th January 2010: We uploaded the new filming we had done and edited it down and began trying to find some backgrounds to use for our green screen. The backgrounds we used can be found on the green screening post. We also did some filming at Lauren's house using a car. 27th-29th January 2010: Our filming was finished off using a car and an actor (Jack) to be a mysterious man carrying a briefcase containing the bomb. We uploaded all of this footage and worked out how to use green screen. We used the effect chroma keyer and had to click away at the background using the colour picker. However when you clicked too much of it away it started to cut away at the actors so we had to change the selective colour and change the ...............It works very well but there is a few patches around some of the actors which was due to poor lighting when using the green screen which we didn't have time to film again. We then put all of our footage into the correct order and added some effects to the titles at the end. To make our product look more like a Hollywood film we also started colour grading it to give it more of a 'film' look. We also added the music and made it flow throughout the teaser trailer.
1st-5th February 2010: We finished colour grading and added some more effects to our teaser trailer such as ............................. We also began to discuss what to include in our evaluations. We took some more pictures of Grace but to put on our film magazine and using these, finished our ancillary tasks.
