This is the teaser trailer for catwoman which is a typical action adventure film. The first thing we see of the teaser is the logo of the institution of the film which is what is included first in almost all films and trailers. This institution is Warner Brothers which has a black background with the logo in silver and this creates quite a dark, science fiction feel to the genre already and this image remains consistent throughout the teaser trailer.
The first part of the film we see in the teaser trailer is a tracking shot from behind of a girl running which raises a lot of enigmas and awareness already. A black screen is then cut to suddenly and then a light appears with a shot from underwater and a body floating on top of it. A line then appears saying "from a life that was taken." From this beginning of the teaser trailer it is not very clear that the genre of the film is action adventure and it could easily be linked to horror or thriller from just that part as it is very dark and sinister. There is no music at the beginning and just the sounds of a submarine and then a scream can be heard before some quite slow and serene music is played when the body can be seen.
Then a shot is cut to of someone landing on the ground on all fours and we can only see their hands and legs and there is also a jolt of music played. There is a flash of light which raises more enigmas and this flash is also like a flash of hope or goodness. The shot of the body in the water is then cut to again and the second part of the quote is shown saying "a new one will be born." There is then a shot in a club and a silhouette of catwoman can be seen under a light with the jolt of music played again. This is still very mysterious but unlike many teaser trailers this one does give away a bit about the plot as we know she was murdered and somehow became catwoman from this. A high angle shot of a dark and muddy face is then cut to and the eye is very quickly zoomed into which turns from a regular eye into a cats eye. This then zooms out again to show a shot of the same woman who was running at the beginning as catwoman riding off on a motorbike. The music then kicks in and is very fast and intense.
This is then very fast paced and there are a lot of lights to disorientate the audience with a very brief shot of what looks like a logo. A fight scene is then shown which is very typical of the action adventure genre. She has also been made into a superhero which is again very typical to action adventure. There is then a shot of someone pushing her from a ledge and she lands on all fours again like a cat. The name Halle Berry then appears which is very typical of teaser trailers to include names of stars to raise awareness about the film and that certain people are starring in it. There is then a shot of catwoman going to kiss someone and romance seems to also be a subgenre of action adventure which could be used in our own teaser trailer. There is then another flash of the logo before we see catwoman fall again and land on all fours. We then see a full shot of the logo which merges into the word catwoman right at the end of the trailer. Another fight scene is then shown using a lot of flips and stunts and another shot of catwoman before the release date appears and finally the website which people can go to if they want to find out more about the film. The editing gets faster and faster throughout the teaser trailer as the excitement builds up.
This teaser trailer gives away a bit more than typical ones do about the plot but it raises a lot of awareness about the film and attracts attention.
