WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNED FROM YOUR AUDIENCE FEEDBACK?
Our target audience is 16-25 year olds, the main cinema age range. A fairly wide range of ages as action-adventure is a family based genre. Our secondary target audience is a older male audience as this genre is typically pushed towards males. Females are also closely linked to our genre as we based it on the idea of a female superhero. But we thought mostly males, as the fighting/explosions appeals to them and the genre is associated with males in the first place. Race and ethnicity wasn't really an issue with our teaser trailers as we created as a Hollywood film, so that it will appeal to almost everyone. We decided that mainly 16-25year olds fit our target audience, the main cinema audience as our characters are going to be young. But secondly it appeals towards the older target audience to as this genre is normally for older ages as the plot and storyline are more complex within these genres.
Our certificated age is 12A as it has fighting in it but not what you can call violence. Our audience is in A-E, as it is a Hollywood film and everybody watches these films. 80% of films in British cinemas are Hollywood films. Looking at the Young and Rubican's Cross cultural consumer characteristics theory, Our audience fits in the mainstreamers section. This is the largest section of the market and it seeks security in conformity and thus tends to buy-well known brands by public.
Using Maslow's hierarchy of needs

and the uses and gratifications theory text gives a feeling of self-actualization of creativity and spontaneity. As James Halloran stated 'We must get away from the habit of thinking in terms of what the media do to people and substitute for it the idea of what people do with the media'. So we made sure that our teaser trailer lets people escape from their daily life into the film and create relationships with characters.
We have used the audience to give us feedback on our project. We have used questionnaires about our teaser trailer and filmed a group of 17-18 year olds discussing our teaser trailer. We used questionnaires for our ancillary tasks as well.
On the questionnaires we asked the question 'Mark this project out of 10'. From this information, I have put the data into a bar chart so I can clearly see how well our overall project has achieved.

From this feedback we have realised that the 'Green Screening' effect didn't work as well as planned, but we know how to improve on this if done again. Also some of the characters that we had (the male with brief case) didn't really make sense, we didn't create enough footage to help introduce that character properly. The things which worked really well was the short, fast shots, this helped created a suspense, exciting atmosphere and kept the audience interested.
We decided to have our audience feedback filmed as it is a better way to get more information from people, as you can get evidence of anything being said and get footage of any discussions and debates which occur. This is always good for criticism and compliments.
From this Audience feedback we have understood the things that worked really well, like our conventions of Spy/action adventure genre, using cars, fighting females etc, and also the things that we could have done better, like the 'green screening' effect, but to make this better we would have to have a much higher spending budget.
